Message I've been looking into buying EGT sensors for my DAQ setup, but every "performance" place I looked into wanted big $$$ for the damn sensor. Paying $190 for a single sensor it just plain ol f*cked up. So I thought about it, reviewed a few things, and what did I find?! The damn california spec engine has an EGT sensor on the back of the motor, it is part of the EGR system! So I went to the garage, pulled that sucker out of my TT motor on the stand to inspect it (I have a california model TT engine) and who makes it? NTK! So I call my buddy, parts manager at my local nissan dealer, and have him look it up. $43 a piece. "Order one!"

I plugged up the hole that the sensor was in because I wont be using that function anyway as my Z is not a california model and there are no connectors on the harness for it. Gonna drill and tap the manifolds sometime this weekend probably to install them. These will be linked into my engine data acquisition setup as well. I'll most likely be setting up an event driven system in the code that monitors the EGT and allow it to drop the boost if temperatures become excessive. Afterall, the computer also controls boost. :)

The fact that these other companies are charging arms and legs for this kind of stuff really irks me. And hell, I call my local Nissan dealer (last place you expect to find a "good price") and they have EGT sensors that are good to 1800 degrees for $43? Sheesh. I'll be the death of those bogus companies EGT sales if I can help it.
